World-famous Japanese manga and anime have become new Kabuki one after another, gaining a new fan base mainly among young people. Following the Super Kabuki II “One Piece” that caused a social phenomenon in 2015, this month “NARUTO” depicting the world of ninjas in Minamiza, Kyoto, and in December this year an animation movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki. "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" is also kabuki with the same name. Kabuki's "World Strategy" can be seen through the development with inbound (foreign tourists visiting Japan) and overseas performances in mind. (Noriko Kameoka)
Otaki falls with a roaring noise. A fallen ninja Naruto (Bandou Minnosuke) and rival Sasuke (Nakamura Hayato) fight in the real water. Cheers screamed from the ground in the splash of water to the audience.
A new Kabuki "NARUTO" performing in Minamiza. In the audience, children, young people, and groups of foreigners, which are rarely seen in Kabuki performances, were noticeable.
“It was interesting,” says Ryu Inoue (8), a third-year elementary school student in Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture. After seeing the poster of Kabuki performance of "NARUTO", I asked my mother to "I want to go". "Naruto is cool. I saw Kabuki for the first time, but it was easy to understand."
The original is a manga of the same name by Masashi Kishimoto, who has a cumulative total of 140 million copies in Japan, has been distributed in over 40 countries and regions, and has many fans overseas. The Kabuki genre is Zagumi, which is centered around young Kabuki actors and premiered in Tokyo last August. The stage, which made full use of cutting-edge video technology and productions unique to Kabuki, such as sight-seeing and standing water, became popular.
In the first place, the first new Kabuki based on Japanese manga is "ONE PIECE" which has fans all over the world, and it was performed mainly by Mr. Sarunosuke Ichikawa as a super Kabuki II "One Piece" in 2015. In a scene where the protagonist, Sarunosuke-san, rides on a surfboard and rides in the air, the spectator will be in a standing position, making a big hit with a new audience. It has also been reissued in Osaka Shochikuza, Fukuoka, and Nagoya.

At first glance, Kabuki, a traditional performing art, and subculture manga and anime seem like a mismatch. However, "a cartoon character has a distinctly established personality, and that might be the second enemy of Kabuki, and it might fit well with a person who has a clear role in the play," a theater critic said. Mr. Osamu Inumaru analyzes.
In both works, the high degree of visual reproducibility of characters such as costumes, hairstyles, and makeup became a hot topic, so that the fans of the original could accept them. In addition, because it has a global profile, it has the power to attract people who are not interested in Kabuki.
Inumaru says, "Kabuki has a surprising idea and image leap that are common to manga and anime, which also leads to compatibility."

This month's "Gekkou Rokuronji Japan (Fuunkoji children)" performed in Kabukiza, Tokyo, is also produced and directed by Koki Mitani based on Taro Minamoto's historical comic "Fukoun children". The new Kabuki. Also, “Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa”, which will be performed at the Shimbashi Theater in Tokyo in December, has been attracting attention as the first Kabuki adaptation of Miyazaki's work.
On the other hand, in "NARUTO-Naruto-", which is currently being performed in Minamiza, the usual start time was delayed by 2 hours and delayed to 6 pm, mainly for the inbound, only on the night of this month. It is an attempt to be conscious of night culture.
Masatake Abiko, vice president of Shochiku, said, "If you would like to enjoy Kabuki at night during the day and around shrines and temples." At the same time, he said, "I would be happy if the new Kabuki based on manga or anime could serve as an entrance to Kabuki for young people. I would like to consider overseas performances in the future by taking advantage of the world-famous popularity of the original." ..
