In the 2019 Annual Report submitted to the U.S. Parliament on January 30, the U.S. Department of Defense's Operations Test and Evaluation Bureau reported 873 as of November 4, last year, regarding the F35 stealth fighter, which the Japan Air Self-Defense Force is also introducing. It was revealed that there are still "unresolved defects", 13 of which are classified as "Category 1", which affects the effectiveness and safety of the operation.

"Even if we fix the flaws, new flaws continue to be discovered, resulting in a slight reduction," the report notes. These defects pose a risk of serious accidents and lead to higher development costs.

About the F35 The U.S. Department of Defense is currently moving to a system called "Block 4" that can carry the state-of-the-art nuclear bomb "B61-12", aiming to enable nuclear loading by the mid-2020s. I will. In this regard, the report states that "there are many flaws to be resolved" before introducing the "Block 4" feature, which may delay planning.

The report does not reveal specific flaws, but the US military newspaper "Defense News" (electronic version) independently obtained 13 "Category 1" contents on June 12, last year. Reported based on materials. ▽ The air pressure in the cockpit changes suddenly, causing damage to the pilot. ▽ If the flight speed exceeds Mach 1 and 2, the stealth coating of the aircraft will be damaged.

The Trump administration is proceeding with the sale of the F35 to its allies, and the Abe administration has decided to introduce 105 F35A and 42 F35B at the request of the US side. The newspaper reports that the imperfections of the F35 will affect Japan and elsewhere.

In April last year, the Air Self-Defense Force F35A crashed off the coast of Aomori Prefecture. The Aircraft said that there is a high possibility of "spatial disorientation" in which the pilot loses his sense of balance and illusions the vertical attitude and direction of the aircraft, but the truth is unknown because the black box has not been recovered.
