いまは対面で書類でやりとりしている逮捕状など令状の請求・発付や送致などの刑事手続きについて、オンライン化にむけた検討を警察庁と法務省が始めた。最高裁と日本弁護士連合会も検討に参加。公判に関する資料のデジタル化も視野に入れている。情報流出の防止策など課題は少なくないが、早ければ数年後の実現を目指す。
政府が近くまとめるIT戦略にこれらの方針が盛り込まれる見通しで、新型コロナウイルスにとどまらず、今後の感染症発生なども念頭に、遠隔手続きの仕組みを作る狙いもある。
