脱原発を訴える小泉純一郎氏＝倉吉市山根、倉吉体育文化会館
小泉純一郎元首相が3日、倉吉市内で講演した。「原発ゼロでも停電しないことが証明されている。核のごみの処分場も無いのになぜ動かそうとするのか」と政府や電力会社の姿勢を批判し、再生可能エネルギーの導入を強く推し進めるべきとの持論を展開した。
2011年3月の東京電力福島第1原発事故に機に脱原発の主張に転じた小泉氏は「ひとたび事故が起きれば古里がなくなる。それを目の当たりにしても原発を諦めず、過ちを改めようとしないのは不思議でしょうがない」と強調した。
福島の事故後、東電が工面できない賠償金や廃炉の費用を実質的に国民の税金で賄い、他原発でも安全対策の費用が膨らんでいるとして「原発はコストが安いと言っていたのはうそだった」とも訴えた。
その上で、原発から出る核のごみ（高レベル放射性廃棄物）の処分場が決まっていないことや、稼働原発がゼロだった13～15年も電力が安定供給されたことを挙げ、水力や太陽光、風力を中心とする電源構成に転換すべきだと強調。「必ず原発ゼロになり、自然エネルギーの時代が来る」と訴えた。
小泉氏は01～06年に首相を務め09年に政界を引退。講演会は倉吉青年会議所が創立60周年を記念して開き約1100人が聴いた。
