Sforzato's DST-Lyra network transport supports ZERO LINK

DST-Lyra network transport
Sforzato has released two products: the DST-Lyra network transport and the PMC-Libra 10MHz master clock. The DST-Lyra costs 250,800 yen, and the PMC-Libra costs 99,000 yen.
DST-Lyra
A transport with one USB input and one ZERO LINK output, for digital input and digital output. It can be used by connecting the USB input (USB-B terminal) to the USB output of a PC, or the USB output of a NAS such as DELA, fidata, or Soundgenic. It will soon be compatible with Bulk Pet and JPlay.
It uses ZERO LINK, which is an “ultimate synchronization interface” that receives a clock signal from the DAC and delivers a data signal synchronized to that clock to the DAC. By connecting the DSC series to the ZERO LINK, it is possible to “create the ultimate USB DAC”. The DAC is completely free from asynchronous operation, which disrupts the rhythm of D/A conversion, and it is possible to achieve zero-stress operation with no fluctuations in workload.
The ZERO LINK connection is capable of transmitting high-speed digital signals, and uses a DVI cable that can be securely fixed in place. The DST-Lyra comes with a 2m DVI cable from SUPRA as standard.
It is equipped with a switch mode power supply, which is the same as the power supply used in the higher-end model DST-Lepus, and has a large capacity for both the digital control section and the ZERO LINK output section. It also has a thorough POL (Point of Load) system that regulates power at the point where it is needed.
For the internal wiring, PC-tripleC single-core oval wires were used in cooperation with Acoustic Revive. The power supply and signal purity is ensured by using a wiring method that does not use connectors as much as possible and is time-consuming.
The board uses a double-sided 8-layer board. The surface and back are both wide ground planes, and most of the digital signals are wired to the inner layers. The strong shielding effect is said to suppress noise to the absolute minimum. Finemet beads have also been placed in appropriate locations to ensure thorough noise countermeasures.
Supported formats are PCM 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz, 352.8KHz, 384kHz, 705.6kHz , 768kHz (16/24/32bit fixed/floating). DSD supports 2.8MHz, 5.6MHz, 11.2MHz, 22.5MHz 1bit (dsf, diff).
It is also possible to update by connecting a Windows PC to the USB port. The company says that “it will continue to evolve even after you buy it”. The external dimensions are 234 x 236 x 92 mm (width x depth x height), and the weight is 2.3 kg.
PMC-Libra
10MHz Master Clock “PMC-Libra
This is a master clock generator that supplies high-quality clocks to network players, DACs, CD players, etc., and ‘contributes to dramatic improvements in sound quality’.
It uses an OCXO (high-precision crystal oscillator) that was selected after repeated listening tests. The output is a 10MHz square wave, and the SMA terminal is used for its excellent high-frequency characteristics to transmit the sharp edges of the square wave. The output impedance is 50Ω.
The standard specification has three spike legs. The legs can be changed to round plastic legs at the user's request, at the same price.
The power supply is an included AC adapter. An SMA-SMA cable and SMA-BNC conversion adapter are also included. The external dimensions are 108 x 83 x 80 mm (width x depth x height), and the weight is 500 g.
