LIFULL, a real estate agent, is developing an Android application "Flying Homes-kun" that allows you to inspect the buildings you are interested in while flying around the real city reproduced in the virtual space. It is on display at the event "Digital Content EXPO 2021" with the theme of digital content technology.
This app is a VR service that allows you to take a virtual look at the properties you find while freely flying around the 3D city. Currently in the prototype stage, we aim to provide it around the spring of 2022. The 3D room is automatically generated based on the floor plan of the plane posted on the property site "LIFULL" (this function itself is already under development). It also has a metaverse-like element, such as allowing multiple people to move in the same space while previewing.
The 3D system uses Unity. The cityscape is generated by "Google Maps Platform Gaming Service" that utilizes Google Map data for games. However, since the Google Maps Platform Gaming Service will be terminated, the service will continue to be developed using another map system.
The prototype version is said to be in the "LOD 0" (Level of Detail) state where no texture is attached to 3D buildings. In the future, we will utilize "PLATEAU", which virtually reproduces the real city promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and build a 3D space closer to reality in cooperation with local governments and companies. For the interior of the room, we aim to create a 3D space that is close to reality by using the preview photos posted on LIFULL as textures.
Originally developed for VR devices such as Oculus Quest, it is said to have been ported to the smartphone version. We would like to develop the VR version in parallel in the future.
