e-onkyo music began distributing music in the new high-resolution format "MQA" for the first time in Japan on April 12. In the first phase, about 90 titles, mainly classical works of Norwegian label "2L", are being distributed for download. 90 titles can be played on PC and compatible USB DACs, and for the first time on portable players, Onkyo brand "DP-X1" and Pioneer brand "XDP-100R". MQA
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is a new high-resolution audio format by Meridian. MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is a new high-resolution audio format developed by Meridian, and is said to be able to deliver sound of the same quality as a studio master while keeping file size to a fraction of that of WAV. Metadata such as song titles and artists, as well as jacket photos, are embedded in the files.
As a feature of the sound quality, MQA suppresses ringing to less than 1/10th of the original waveform and reproduces a more natural sound, while conventional filters for converting analog audio into digital signals generate ringing (echo) immediately before and after the original music signal waveform, causing temporal "blurring" and blurring. MQA reduces ringing to less than 1/10th, resulting in a more natural sound reproduction. Two types of files are available: MQA and MQA Studio, which is a high quality version approved by the artist, producer, or copyright holder.

MQA/MQA Studio can be played on a PC (Windows/Mac) with FLAC compatible player software. However, "in order to play it back in MQA quality, the use of a compatible USB DAC is a prerequisite. Compatible USB DACs are Explorer2 (Meridian Audio), PRIME HEADPHONE AMP (Meridian Audio), and Brooklyn (Mytek Digital). If you do not have a compatible device, playback will be at CD quality.
In addition, the "Music" application on the DP-X1 and XDP100-R portable players will be updated on April 12 to enable MQA playback. In addition, the "X-DAP Link" transfer software will also be updated to transfer MQA sources to the DP-X1/XDP100-R. MQA/MQA Studio files are displayed with FLAC or other extensions in the current version of X-DAP Link, but files transferred to the DP-X1/XDP100-R are transferred as MQA/MQA Studio. When MQA Studio is playing, the indicator turns blue.
