IMAX, 4D, 3D, Dolby Cinema, Grand Class. Is there any merit to enjoy movies with plus α?

https://www.ex-it-blog.com/movie-3d-4d-imax

You can enjoy movies at an extra charge.
I've tried to summarize what I've experienced.

*IMAX Laser GT version Shin Evangelion theatrical version

A movie that you can enjoy more with plus α

The price of the movie is usually 1,800 yen for adults.
There are also various discount plans.
I want to go when it's free as much as possible, so I choose a day on weekdays when there are no discounts.

On the other hand, there are services that allow you to enjoy movies even more if you pay an extra fee.
Roughly arranging it looks like this.

IMAX+500 yen
3D+400 yen
4DX2D+1000 yen
4DX3D+1400 yen
MX4D+1200 yen
ScreenX+700 yen
dolby cinema+600 yen

Theaters may vary slightly.
IMAX is something that you can enjoy with more beautiful images.
There are IMAX, IMAX Laser, and IMAX Laser GT.
The Shin Evangelion movie version (2nd time) I saw the other day was IMAX Laser GT.
This can only be enjoyed at Ikebukuro Grand Cinema Sunshine in Tokyo and 109 Cinemas Osaka Expocity in Osaka.

3D is something that can be enjoyed in three dimensions by wearing glasses.

4D is 4DX and MX4D depending on the theater series.
4D and 2D, 4D and 3D.
The Shin Evangelion movie version (1st time) I saw the other day was MX4D/2D.
The chair moves a lot.
The most expensive plan.

ScreenX has a screen on the side and has a sense of presence.

Dolby Cinema is something that you can enjoy with clearer images and sounds.
For IMAX +500 yen, Dolby Cinema is +700 yen.
Marunouchi Piccadilly, MOVIX Saitama, MOVIX Kyoto only.

In addition, there are additional services depending on the seat, and if you are in Grand Cinema Sunshine Grand Class, it will be +3,000 yen (1,200 yen meal coupon is included, so it is actually +1,800 yen).

The regular price for Grand Cinema Sunshine is 1,900 yen (100 yen higher).
IMAX Laser GT is 700 yen (also expensive), and Grand Class (+3,000 yen) is 5,600 yen.
You can buy the Blu-ray...

Let's summarize each of these experiences.
As a premise,・At home, there is an organic EL TV (SONY 55 inch A8F) and a sound bar (Sony HT-Z9F) with
4KUHD .

I get the impression that screening existing works in IMAX or Dolby Cinema will have little effect.
There are also hits and misses.
The same is true for 3D and 4D.
In terms of 4D, the Star Wars series feels shabby.
Shin Evangelion was good.

IMAX or MX4D or 3D

IMAX

You can enjoy IMAX with clearer images and sounds.
The screen is also large, and the IMAX Laser GT is 40% larger.
It was certainly big and powerful.
However, even in that GT, if it was Shin Evangelion theatrical version, I wonder if it didn't feel "amazing".

I think it has something to do with whether or not it was made exclusively for IMAX.

Of course it's cleaner than usual.
But compared to my home environment, it's not that bad.
Even at home, it depends on whether it's streaming, Blu-ray, or 4K UHD.
When it is delivered, the image quality is still degraded, and the sound is considerably degraded.
Depends on the work.

The image is that a normal theater = home (distribution) < IMAX = home (Blu-ray) < home (4K UHD)
.

4D

4D is not fun at home.
It definitely has the merits of the theater.
However, as I mentioned earlier, I wonder if there is a difference in performance depending on the work.

Compared to TOHO Cinema 4DX, United MX4D has more flashy movements and a more realistic image.
Shin Evangelion theatrical version was impressive with good production such as vibration, temperature, and wind.

dolby cinema

If it is a recent work, I think it is the highest peak.
Dolby Cinema and MX4D is Dolby Cinema.
Realistic images and sounds give a sense of realism rather than actual movement.

Avengers Endgame was excellent.
However, there weren't that many films screened in Dolby Cinema.
The encounter universe of Gundam.
Although it is clean.

I'm playing Char's Counterattack now, but I haven't been to see it.
I have high hopes for the latest film, Flash Hathaway, so I plan to go see it at Dolby Cinema.

ScreenX

ScreenX spreads the screen to the sides, which is also something you can't enjoy at home.
(It feels like Virtua Racing and Ridge Racer that used to be in the game center in the old days) It feels
like an attraction, and I wonder if this is possible.

3D

Wearing glasses, 3D = something that can be enjoyed three-dimensionally.
This will also vary depending on the work.
Some are real, some are not.

grand class

+3,000 yen Grand class was such a seat.

Spacious and in the last row.
Adjustable backrest and footrest.

It is comfortable because there is a distance from the seat in front of you.
However, it cannot be said that the distance between the seats next to it is wide.
It is a level that worries me when there are people next to me.
(People who don't care won't mind)

Choose the edge for risk hedging or buy last minute.

There is also a premium class seat for +1,500 yen, but it was a half-baked impression in terms of location.

Speaking of other things, I also recommend hug de cinema.
Star Wars with a 0-year-old and 10-month-old child at cuddle de cinema. Enjoy movies with your baby.

I used to go there with my daughter.
Now I can go normally.
I watched Shimajiro together the other day.
I wonder if it can be said that it is unique to the theater.

It is also recommended to prepare the environment at home

In summary, in order of recommendation,
Dolby Cinema (+600 yen)

4D (+1,000 yen to 1,400 yen)

ScreenX (+700 yen)

IMAX (+500 yen), 3D (+400 yen)
.

On the premise that there are hits and misses for each work.

If you enjoy movies, it is also recommended to prepare the environment of your home.
It costs more and the screen is smaller than a theater, but it has the advantage that you don't have to worry about your surroundings in an environment that you like.
(If you live in an apartment, you need to be careful about noise.)

Another benefit is that you can watch it over and over again.
Well, I won't repeat myself.

I don't watch any TV programs.
I use it only for Blu-ray, 4kUHD, streaming, and games, but it's well worth it.

Since I lived in a 6 tatami room, I had a plasma TV and a home theater system.

Organic EL is cheap, but HDR compatible is recommended.

Soundbars are becoming more space-saving these days.
The one I had before was a fairly large speaker.
It was wired.
I have wireless rear speakers.

Sony Soundbar HT-Z9F 3.1ch Alexa Compatible High Resolution 4K HDR HDMI Included Dolby Atmos DTS:X Bluetooth Compatible

Blu-ray has better image quality and better sound, so we have everything we need here.
The beginning, ending, and Q of Evangelion New Theatrical Version are also Blu-ray.
It's a pity it doesn't have 4K.

I have Marvel, Gundam and Star Wars in 4KUHD.

If you want to play 4K UHD, you need a dedicated player or a game console (PS5, Xbox Series X, etc.).

How to recommend, compare, and enjoy 4KHDR/Dolby Atmos video streaming services [2019 version]
Xbox One X is superior to PS4Pro/Switch. 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, exclusive titles, backward compatibility, 4KUHD

Please use it as a reference to enjoy movies and works.

■Editor's postscript
Yesterday, I spent the whole day in Kichijoji studying photography.
I'm glad the weather was nice.
I used to go to Kichijoji a lot because I lived nearby, but this was my first time visiting Inokashira Park.

Speaking of Kichijoji, "Rokudenashi BLUES".
I was impressed when I went there for the first time.
Shibuya, Asakusa, and Ikebukuro are also (four kings).

■Daughter's diary (4 years and 0 months)

Yesterday, I had pirate pancakes.
It's from the Netflix show Gabby's Dollhouse that I'm obsessed with.
Use raisins, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries.
I also enjoyed eating raisins.
While saying, "Papa, it's delicious, raisins."
(I hate raisins)
