Hello, my name is Takasuke Kato. My name is Takasuke Kato. I work at a general hospital called Otaru Association Hospital as a cancer treatment specialist.
Cancer thermotherapy (hyperthermia) is very useful in controlling cancer.
Today, I would like to introduce the effects of hyperthermia on cancer and which hospitals can provide it.

Summary
What are the effects of hyperthermia on cancer?
The basic premise of hyperthermia is that it should be used in combination with radiation therapy and anticancer drug therapy.
Why is it effective?
Cancer cells warm up more easily than normal cells and are more sensitive to heat.
Therefore, when the same amount of heat is applied, cancer cells are one to two degrees higher than normal cells, which causes only cancer cells to die and normal cells to survive.
Cancer cells can be found in places other than the brain and eyes.
It is less stressful on the body and can be treated on an outpatient basis.
It can be combined with anticancer agents and radiotherapy.
Health insurance is available.
Immune function is enhanced, appetite is improved, physical strength is restored, and pain is alleviated.
Advantages of combining anticancer drug therapy and hyperthermia
It produces better therapeutic effects than anticancer agents alone.
Furthermore, even if the dosage of anticancer agents is reduced to about 60 to 70% of the dosage listed in the guidelines, it can still produce considerable anticancer effects.
In other words, patients can undergo treatment without suffering from the side effects of anticancer agents.
Advantages of combining radiotherapy and hyperthermia
It produces a better therapeutic effect than radiotherapy alone.
In some situations, it is not possible to deliver a sufficient amount of radiation to the cancer.
In such cases, the combined use of hyperthermia can produce the same therapeutic effect as when a sufficient amount of radiation is applied.
The time when a sufficient amount of radiation cannot be applied is the time of re-irradiation.
How is hyperthermia used in combination with hyperthermia?
This is the most important point.
It is most ideal to have hyperthermia within 1 to 2 hours before or after radiation therapy or anticancer therapy. The longer the time, the less advantageous the combined treatment becomes.
At the latest, you want hyperthermia within 24 hours before and after treatment.
Ideally, however, hyperthermia within one to two hours.
There are several hospitals in the country that can do this.
Adding hyperbaric oxygen therapy to hyperthermia further enhances the therapeutic effect.
Radiotherapy and anticancer drug therapy using "hyperthermia combined with hyperbaric oxygen" are the most powerful.
If I determine that the cancer cannot be controlled without "hyperthermia combined with hyperbaric oxygen," I may ask the patient to go for a short period of time to a hospital that can provide that treatment well and undergo treatment.
Many of my patients are from Hokkaido, so they will have to fly there.
Now, ideally, hyperbaric oxygen therapy should also be given within an hour of receiving radiation therapy or anticancer drugs.
Doing so may produce very good therapeutic effects.
There are only a few facilities in Japan that can responsibly and well perform radiation therapy and anticancer drug treatment "with hyperthermia and hyperbaric oxygen.
How effective is hyperthermia alone?
Hyperthermia does not contribute much to the shrinkage of cancer even if it is performed long after anticancer drug treatment or radiotherapy.
In addition, hyperthermia alone is not expected to reduce the size of the cancer as well.
However, it does have the following advantages
Reduction of edema and pain that are symptoms of cancer
Incidentally, in some countries, such as Italy, this treatment is approved by insurance.
The medical data are quite abundant.
Can receiving hyperthermia be counterproductive? And what about side effects?
There are no adverse effects. For example, it can increase the number of cancers.
What are the side effects of hyperthermia?
You have to stay still for a long time in a rather hot environment. It is like sitting still in a hot sauna.
Therefore, you will lose some of your physical strength.
The following is a summary of side effects.
Burns.
In rare cases, burns may occur on the skin at the treatment site, or the subcutaneous fat may harden.
Heat stroke
Heat stroke can be induced by sweating profusely due to the increase in temperature not only in the affected area but also in the entire body.
Fatigue
Since the treatment raises the temperature, a feeling of lethargy and stiffness of muscles after a slight fever may occur.
These side effects are listed above, but if done properly, they are few and far between.
Incidentally, another important factor in receiving effective hyperthermia is the skill of the technician.
If hyperthermia is introduced for the purpose of profit and the hyperthermia is performed somewhat casually, it will not be able to bring out the full effect of the treatment.
The technician's technique is also very important to bring out the effects of hyperthermia.
How much does hyperthermia cost? Is it covered by insurance?
A series of treatments is often estimated to be 8 to 10 sessions. The treatment is performed around once a week, which is about 3 months.
For patients who respond well, additional treatments are performed.
One series of treatment (8 to 10 times) will cost a total of 90,000 yen.
If the co-payment is 30%, the total cost will be 27,000 yen.
As a precaution, there are hospitals that offer hyperthermia as an uninsured treatment. In such cases, the co-payment is expected to be higher.
Now, there are other ways to reduce the size of cancer besides hyperthermia.
The latest treatment methods are also introduced free of charge.
We recommend that you also register for this e-mail course.

Conclusion
Receiving appropriate hyperthermia treatment is very important in controlling cancer.
And there are other ways to reduce the size of cancer besides hyperthermia.
However, are you confused by all the information available? Also, are you shocked when you read about the battles of cancer patients who have passed away?
Finding information about cancer is important, but it also has this negative side.
I also provide free information on the latest treatments and other resources.
This information is provided from the perspective of an active physician who is a specialist in cancer treatment and is constantly gathering information.
I try to be trustworthy, not to miss good information, and not to make you feel lost or anxious. We also provide timely information about cancer.
Many family members of cancer patients who are looking for information have registered with us.
We have received the following feedback.
I came across your website when I was searching the Internet for information about ovarian cancer.
I immediately registered for the e-mail magazine and read "A Book to Read When Receiving Anticancer Drug Treatment.
The contents of your website and e-mail magazine are very theoretical, and you provide many more beneficial methods based on Western medicine as well.
I now have a much better understanding of how we as a family should support him.
It is really reassuring to meet someone like you. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for all your help and support this past year. Thanks to you, Mr. Kato, I am now able to treat patients with confidence.
I look forward to working with you again in the future.
My tumor markers were within the normal range of CEA 1.1 and CA19-9 16, and my liver function, kidney function, and other test values were all fine. All the other test results were also fine. The next test will be at 18 months after the surgery.
I am learning a lot from your newsletters and blogs, so I am able to live my daily life without any worries.
When I read your mail, I feel relieved because it gives me hope and brightens my heart.
I am creating this e-mail course in the hope that I can help relieve some of the anxiety of patients and families suffering from cancer.
There are many times when people do not understand the pain of fighting cancer. The battle against cancer is a lonely one.
I hope that this email course will help ease the pain and loneliness of you and your family, even if only a little.
We hope that this e-mail course will help you to do so.
