AT-SC700 speaker cable
On May 20, Audio-Technica will release the "AT-SC700" speaker cable, the second in the "FLUAT" series of high-end cables, which is designed to "flow like a clear stream, without muddying the signal. Cable lengths of 2m, 2.5m, 3m, 4m, and 5m are available. Terminals can be selected from two types, Y-lug and banana plug, for a total of 20 variations. Prices start at 110,000 yen for 2m.
Prices also start at 121,000 yen for 2.5m, 132,000 yen for 3m, 154,000 yen for 4m, and 176,000 yen for 5m. Lengths longer than 3m are made-to-order, which takes one to two months.
This is the second in the series, following the first series interconnect cables "AT-IC700R/AT-IC700X" and power cable "AT-AC700" released last November. In accordance with the theory of signal transmission that minimizes signal loss and distortion and does not interfere with music reproduction, the design concept was reviewed from the ground up, not to mention the wire materials, materials, and structure.
Two types of terminals can be selected: Y-lug and banana plug.
The AT-SC700 series conductors consist of 6N-OFC, which is said to express sound contours and high-range extension in fine detail, and PCUHD, which is said to realize powerful low-frequency expression and a vast sound field, plus HYPER OFC, an oxygen-free copper wire with 99.99% purity (4N) and oxygen content of less than 10ppm, for a triple-trident conductor. The hybrid specification "allows you to experience an audio space like you have never tasted before".
The unique "Heat Relieve" high-temperature heat treatment effectively removes only the residual stress remaining in the insulation, PVC sheath, and other resins without damaging the conductors or the product's appearance. The "AT-SC700" plug is also heat-treated at a high temperature to effectively remove residual stresses that remain in the resin, thereby improving the basic performance to a higher level in terms of information content without changing the sound quality.

A newly developed plug with hexagonal caulking is used. The contact area is maximized by crushing the conductor and terminal with high pressure to reduce contact resistance. Since the connection part is not easily exposed to air, deterioration of the conductor over time is also suppressed. Terminals are thick gold-plated to ensure stable conductivity.
Cable Structure
Elastomer damping material is used for the internal coating. It has rubber-like elasticity and converts unwanted external vibrations into thermal energy. The 4-core star cad structure also achieves low inductance.
The conductor resistance is 4 mΩ/m, capacitance is 140 pF/m, and self-inductance is 0.44 μH/m. Applicable terminal diameters for Y-lugs are 6 mm and 8 mm.
