Comment: I think Tesla is a company that forces people to come to work because they are weak in IT. If I were the owner-CEO (president), I think it would be possible to set up a facility where most research could be done 99% or more teleworking, remote work, or R&D in a satellite office. I think it would be possible to have a satellite office or a home remodeled into a research facility inside my home for most experiments and R&D, except for those that require rocket launch experiments.

Tesla CEO forces employees to choose between coming to work or resigning

(Reuters, May 1) - Elon Musk, CEO of U.S. electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla Inc. In an email sent to employees on the evening of January 31, he asked them to come to work at least 40 hours a week and said that if they did not comply, he would "consider them resigned," almost forcing them to return to work.
If you're in a higher level position, you have to show up," he noted. That's why I spent so much time at the plant, showing the production line workers that I work with them. If I had not done this, Tesla would have gone bankrupt a long time ago.
Sources close to the two men confirmed that the e-mail obtained by Reuters was genuine. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment.
In the email, Musk claimed, "Of course there are companies that don't require you to come to work, but when was the last time such a company shipped a great new product? It must have been quite some time ago," he claimed. Tesla "makes the most exciting and meaningful products of any company on the planet. It's not something you can do by putting a phone in the workplace," he stressed. He has downplayed the risk of transmission of the new coronavirus in the past.
Some Tesla employees took to the anonymous social networking site Blind to complain about Musk's policy. The social networking site requires members to register with a company e-mail address to prove where they work.
One employee asked if he would be able to finish an ongoing project if a mass retirement occurred, while another posted that he hoped Mr. Mask would retract his statement soon.
